Where have I been?

Writer: Indi CarltonIndi Carlton

Hello!

Have you been wondering where the heck I've been? Or possibly, the state of things out there in the world have kept you too distracted, concerned, and exhausted to notice I hadn't posted my blog in a while?

It's been a tough start to this year in so many ways, but I'm over here in my art studio staying very busy and kicking off this year with a focus on making art. I'm also doing my best to balance out the current challenges that are out of my control with steps I can actually take to make a better world. One thing I've been doing to keep sane is painting ~ a lot ~ and also creating altered books and assemblage art pieces. Here's my first altered book of the year, called Love Birds, it's already been swooped up by a collector and I'm so incredibly grateful!

And here are three paintings I've finished, they're all hot off the easel and available through my online shop.

One change I decided to make this year was to wrap my regular blog posts and my monthly newsletter into a weekly email. It’ll be the best of both ~ updates on the art I’m creating combined with my musings on life, art, and the creative process. It’s also a way to deal with the ever-frustrating algorithms that keep hiding my posts deep within the dark, forgotten corners of social media, which has meant that you hardly see my art or me! I’d much rather reach out to you directly through emails and keep our connection going strong no matter what happens out there with the madness that social media has become.

With that I switched up the platform I am using to send out my emails so they wouldn't get lost in spam or junk folders and guess what happened? Ugh! Many of you that had signed up previously aren't getting them because that's exactly where the new platform is sending them. So if you haven't heard from me lately, check those spots and see if I'm there!

And BIG NEWS, in this week's email I'm sending a out a gorgeous artist catalog of my work, so be sure to be on the look out for that. If you aren't signed up yet, make sure to join in and it'll be on it's way to you. Just click below. If you're reading this days or weeks after this has been posted, no worries, anyone signing up to receive my emails will receive the catalog too!

And last, but definitely not least, another great pairing, over the weekend I dropped off some of my paintings at the Scott Harvey Wines tasting room here in town.

If you're in the area, definitely stop by for a glass of wine and to see some art! You can then take home a bottle of wine or two and also a piece of my bright and colorful art to cheer up your home! If Franklin is there, be sure to say Hey, he's amazing, an artist himself, and is doing his part to support artists in the area. Thank you Franklin!

Thanks for following along and being such a great supporter of the arts! I'll see you in your inbox next time!
