Dream Creatures and the Art of Remembering

There are worlds living alongside our own that many of us have forgotten how to see. At a time when modern culture often feels dominated by speed, productivity, isolation, and despair, Portals to Elsewhere proposes something different: that joy is not frivolous, imagination is not escapism, and wonder is not naive. They are essential acts of survival and creation. Here we see that dreaming is not passive, but a participatory activity. The worlds we long for are shaped first through perception, attention, and collective visioning.

 

This exhibit is ultimately an invitation not only to imagine another way of being together, but to consider what role each of us might play in helping bring that world into being ~ through curiosity, compassion, courage, and the willingness to remain open to wonder.

 

In Portals to Elsewhere I invite visitors into a vivid ecosystem of paintings, sculptural creatures, and immersive encounters where imagination, memory, play, and wonder become acts of reconnection. Through layered color, symbolic imagery, and larger-than-life forms, the exhibit explores the possibility that humans are not separate from the living world, but participants within a vast and interconnected web of relationships that includes animals, intuition, mystery, spirit, and the unseen.

 

The creatures within this exhibit are both ancient and futuristic.  Some feel playful and familiar, while others emerge from stranger territories of the psyche. Together they inhabit an in-between space: part dream, part memory, part prophecy. They invite curiosity to take precedence over certainty, asking visitors not simply to observe the work, but to enter into relationship with it.
